So easy, a kid can do it

Getting a book at the Douglas County Library using the new self-checkout machine is child’s play.
Just ask 4-year-old Jager Gange of Alexandria.

After library helper Georgia Wahlberg (right) showed him how to use the machine, Jager checked out 10 books all by himself.

Although he’s not quite able to read the books on his own yet, Jager loves listening to his mom read to him.

Monday’s self-checkout demonstration was just one of many activities the library organized in celebration of National Library Week, April 13-19, which carries the theme, “Join the circle of knowledge at your library.”

And remember, if you have any long overdue library materials, now is the perfect time to clear your conscience.

The library’s fine-free week continues through this Saturday. Overdue materials can be returned with no questions asked.
